A small witness to things that remain
Best known as Remi, he started life as a counterpoint to the Series Évanescence , as a way to show that after everything has been lost, there is still life waiting to be discovered.
He has become quite the companion in my Studio, and has taken on a life of his own and has become a cantankerous little fly with a big personality. We often have conversations about his own contracts, and he has already entertained the idea of creating his own line of children’s books. There is also talk about movie rights, casting calls, ect. .Remi already expects royalties from his website exposure, and it has been a battle to explain to him that there is no money involved :) Remi is quite the opposite of me and my ideas about art and life, whereas I prefer subtlety my friend prefers being loud and bright.
Remi’s responsibilities
Inspecting completed works for quality control.
Ensuring all paintings contain an appropriate level of mystery.
Objecting loudly when he is not included.
Maintaining his position as the most photographed fly in contemporary minimalism.
The artist bears no responsibility for Remi’s exaggerated claims of nobility, international fame, or previous ownership of royal estates

CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS FOR FUTURE OWNERS
-Remi must be acknowledged as an important member of the household
-Daily intellectual conversations are strongly encouraged
-Proper lighting must be provided
-Any proposed movie adaptations require his approval.
-Book royalties are currently under negotiation.
-complaints about his size will not be tolerated.
Update! Remi has recently met a beautiful blond female fly, and has tied the knot :) Her name is Fleur, and she is the perfect companion for him. She is quiet, intelligent, and the silent partner. She balances out Remi’s antics perfectly.. Now My studio will have a little more quiet time.
Fleur is shy, and has no desire to be in the spotlight. She has politely requested not to have her likeness exposed here, nor that a full biography of her life before Remi be published. the studio is happy to respect her wishes.
Some visitors come to see the paintings. Others leave asking about the fly.

“Remi was not originally created as a character. He emerged during the creation of Evanescence, where the final panel approached the idea of absence. Rather than leaving the canvas entirely empty, a small visitor appeared — a fly that seemed to have entered naturally and settled upon the surface. This quiet interruption transformed the idea of emptiness into a moment of presence. Remi became the witness: a reminder that even the smallest mark can carry meaning.
